I dont know what but my affinity for the sea surprises me. After my little adventure last week this is hardly a surprise. The boats are all different but going the same way, some faster some not so fast, but they all reach their destination, thats the beauty of it.
The sun has just risen and all our mighty sailors are already awake and beginning their journey, hoping every single minute that they reach their destination. Any guesses who our mighty sailors are?
I went on a slightly odd trajectory thinking of this painting. For me it depicts the odd struggle of everyday life, where we are all moving towards a common goal. the goal is beyond the horizon and cannot be seen. But we know for sure it exists. Secondly, the odd size of the sails depicts the cushion that one gets in this everyday journey thru life. Yet, all said and done, we are all often equally exposed to the travails of the journey. When we are with the other boats, we have more confidence and strength to edge ahead. Above all, we have some one to back up during contingencies. Lastly, we all belive that we will eventually reach the destination, reagrdless of the uncertainty and it is this faint flicker of confidence or HOPE which edges us ahead.
